History

The first project (commenced 1985) involved an investigation into the process parameters and the frictional interfaces during the deep drawing of aerospace components for Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast. In 1996 research into the optimisation of process parameters for stretch formed nacelle skins broadened the area of interest. More recently the team has started to investigate the hydroforming and roll bending processes. All projects are firmly rooted within an industrial context where a key element is the practical application of the research through technology transfer.
